    リビングラジカル重合を用いて架橋点となる反応性部位を有する前駆体高分子を精密合成する。得られた高分子を用いて架橋反応を行うことにより、高分子ゲルの3次元網目構造の制御を狙っている。前駆体高分子の構造を変化させることにより、温度応答挙動や力学特性などの制御を図っている。

    生体高分子に見られるようなモノマーの連鎖配列が完全に制御された高分子をラジカル重合によって達成するための基盤システムとして、鋳型重合に着目した。具体的には、リビングカチオン重合を応用してモノマー認識部位となる官能基をラジカル重合開始点近傍に導入した「鋳型開始剤」を用いることにより、高選択的なラジカル付加反応を達成した。
