自然資源の分解や腐朽に関わる文化を、生態学などの視点を応用して解明する研究を行っています。主に、インドネシア沿岸域を対象地域としています。この研究によって、生産、消費に傾向して理解されてきた自然資源に関わる文化への理解を、それが利用されたのちに朽ち行く過程までを射程に入れて相対化し、深化させることを目指しています。
近年、日本に暮らす東南アジアにツールを持つ人々が急増しています。私自身、夫がインドネシア出身者であるということもあって、日々、日本に暮らす東南アジアにルーツを持つ人々との交流を持っています。そして、彼ら/彼女らが日本で生き生きと生活するために、私にできることがあるだろうかと考えています。こうした問題意識から、日本に暮らす東南アジアルーツの人々に関わる研究、特に、相手が置かれている状況に積極的に関わる実践的研究を行うことを目指しています。現時点では健康や医療に関わる状況に関心を持っていますが、学生とともに学ばせていただき、少しでもお手伝いできることなどがあれば積極的に連携させていただきたいと思っています。
