    Effects of 40-60 % reduction in fertilizer use by single application in a nursery box and non-puddling cultivation on outflow loads from paddy fields, mass balance and hulled rice yields were examined for six years. Four experimental plots were prepared for comparison: conventional puddling and conventional fertilizer use, conventional puddling and reduced fertilizer use, non-puddling and conventional fertilizer use, and non-puddling and reduced fertilizer use.The levels of surface effluent loads of the plots with single application of fertilizer in a nursery box were lower by 43 % for total nitrogen (T-N) and 39 % for total phosphorous (T-P) compared to plots in which conventional fertilizer application was used. Furthermore, subsurface effluent loads were 67 % lower for dissolved nitrogen (D-N) and were dependent upon the fertilizer reduction rates for dissolved phosphorous (D-P). Suspended solids (SS), chemical oxygen demand (COD), T-N, and T-P surface runoff loads from the non-puddling divisions were lower by 41 %, 46 %,59 %, and 65 %, respectively, compared to those from puddling treatments. In the conventional fertilizer treatments, both N and P collected from input factors such as irrigation, rain and fertilizer use were higher than those collected from output factors such as surface effluent load, subsurface effluent load, and hulled rice, because of the increased fertilizer use, which exceeded 11 % for N and 44 % for P. In the single-application fertilizer treatments, the hulled rice yields were 6 % lower,but the rates of yield to the amount of fertilizer were higher.

    農業用排水路は営農活動の基盤施設であると同時に魚類の繁殖,成長,移動経路であるため,生態系に配慮した整備がなされてきた.整備後に土砂の堆積や藻類繁茂等により,魚類の生息環境は変化するが,そのメカニズムが十分に知られていないため,より良い事業の設計が困難である.本研究の目的は農業用排水路の生態環境の核といえる「底質変動」を適切にモデル化することで,物理特性の時空間変化を踏まえた魚巣・魚溜の生態価値を評価することである.
    今年度は魚巣と魚溜が設置されている茨城県の幹線農業用排水路を主な対象とし,①付着藻類の繁茂・枯死を考慮した水路流と路床変動の数値計算,②環境DNA解析による魚類の餌資源(底生動物,プランクトン)と魚類分布の推定に着手した.
    水路の3箇所で月1回程度,糸状体付着藻類の採取と種同定,動植物プランクトンの種同定,窒素・リン濃度の計測を実施した.環境要因を推定するため水温,水位,濁度,日射量を10分間隔で収集した.その結果,付着藻類の種は6月と9月で大きく異なることがわかった.付着藻類の植生密度を流れ・路床変動モデルNays2DH(iRIC)に入力することで,付着藻類の影響を考慮した水路の路床変動を推定し,現地で特徴的な左岸魚巣での堆砂の進行を再現した.また水路とその接続河川で採水し,DNAメタバーコーディング解析を行った.それにより,対象水路-河川に生息する魚種が特定でき,魚類相が場所的,季節的に変化することが明らかになった.DNA解析で推定した魚種の大部分は採捕調査結果と一致した.

    This research aims to reconstruct a system for using and managing agricultural irrigation water stocks through "critical succession" in Kora town Shiga prefecture. We conducted multifaceted evaluation (spatial, behavioral, and awareness) of the system. Specifically, nine research themes were implemented, including “Factors and Issues for Continuous Maintenance of Irrigation-based Environmental Stocks from the Viewpoint of Residents’Association” and “Evaluation of Resident Preference and Non-preference for Irrigation Channels. Based on these results, we presented scenarios, developed theories, and sorted out practical issues that contribute to the reconstruction of a system for using and managing agricultural irrigation water stocks.

    Fish pool structures and environmental conscious confluent structures have been installed in agricultural canals as eco-friendly structure on many land consolidation projects. Though these structures were almost effective as fish wintering and refuging habitat, these were not serve as places to spawn habitat. In addition, when flood occur, fish which lived in a drainage river washed out in flood and population could not expected recover in agricultural drainage canals from the drainage river. Therefore, reproduction, wintering, and refuging habitat need to ensure in agricultural canal concurrently. Sedimentation were likely suppressed in environmental conscious confluent structures than in fish pool structures and water depth more reserved for fish wintering in former than in later structures.

    We studied an applicable water use to adjust framework by considering the functions of water use in quantity, quality and energy consumptions, and river environment maintenance. The water use adjustment process and method of Ane River in Maibara City were studied and compiled as the "History of water use and adjustment in Ane River".
    The effects of water reduction due to water intake on fish and benthic organisms are investigated, and it was quantitatively clarified that the effects of water reduction on fish size. Continuously, the river flow was simulated by using a two-dimensional flow model depth, and an approach has been developed to quantify the impact of river water reduction due to water intake on fish habitat in both quality habitat place and its available area.
    In addition, the importance of clarifying the position of vested rights in the evaluation of water use policy was also pointed out from the analysis of dam removal policy.
